Mr. Forbes holds a degree in instrumental music education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh but began teaching music as a marching member of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. He went on to be an arranger, instructor and program coordinator for both the Madison Scouts and the Americanos Drum Corps of Appleton. Mr. Forbes also judged music performance with the Central States Judges Association (marching bands), Drum Corps Midwest and Drum Corps International judges guilds.
In public education Mr. Forbes has taught as a High School band director in Sparta, Rhinelander and Fond du Lac; as a Middle School band director in Waunakee and most recently as band director at Sennett Middle School and as a beginning strings teacher at Chavez Elementary for the Madison Metropolitan School District. Mr. Forbes was also a long time director of the Dimensions in Sound (disso.org) adult Big Band; a group dedicated to the preservation of the music of the Big Band era.
As a trumpet player Mr. Forbes has performed with a variety of groups including the Jeff Peronto Jazz Orchestra, Madison Mellophonium Jazz Orchestra, Madison Jazz Orchestra, Rand Moore Quintet, Paul Lynch Trio, Madison Wind Ensemble, Verona Area Community Theater, Blessed Brass of First United Methodist Church and is a current performing member of the Worship Arts Community of Blackhawk Church.
Mr. Forbes is excited to be serving as an instrumental music educator for the GRACE system teaching team.
