I am incredibly excited to work with the students at Fr. Allouez Catholic School this year! This marks my 10th year teaching in the (pre-) GRACE System, and it’s my 21st year teaching overall. I earned my degree for UW-Eau Claire where I had the opportunity to study in Monterrey, Mexico for a semester. Since graduating, I’ve taught in Minnesota, Illinois and now Wisconsin. I grew up in De Pere, going to Notre Dame Elementary and Middle School, so I am very invested in the area and the Catholic school system.
You can find me teaching at the Middle School Camps (RES) in the mornings and the Elementary Campus (St. Matt’s) in the afternoons. In addition to my teaching role, I will also continue my work as GRACE’s World Language Coordinator.
Kindergarten and 1st graders have an interactive lesson once every two weeks; and 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders meet twice a week. This is the second year teaching our new, FANTASTIC elementary Spanish curriculum.
Students in grades 6-8 are in for an exciting year! All of the GRACE schools that have Spanish as a Second Language will be teaching a common curriculum, bringing stronger continuity between the schools. The classes will be based on conversing: interpreting through listening and reading, presenting orally and through writing, and interpersonally amongst each other. I am SO excited! 6-8 students will also have a different schedule format this year. 6th grade will meet four times a week for the first half of the school year. 7th grade will meet four times a week for the second half of the school year. We are hopeful that meeting more times a week will enable students to retain what they learn to a higher degree. 8th graders will meet four times a week for the entire year!
I will continue using Google Classroom to communicate with students. This is where students receive notices and assignments, where I post events that I’ve shared with students in class (assessments…), and where resources can be accessed. Parents will receive an invitation to join our Google Classrooms, allowing them to view their student’s information.
